How to Deal With Meltdowns in Students With ADHD
When we start up new behavioral support plans for students, it's not uncommon for behavior to get worse before it gets better. If we stop the intervention because of the meltdowns, I would be concerned that we're teaching a lesson that all you have to do is melt down enough and then we'll take these demands away. A teacher says that some of her co-workers who are teachers struggle ignoring negative or inappropriate behaviors from students with ADHD. They worry about the fairness of ignoring these behaviors when other students receive correction.
