Bloom hears through an open window someone playing a piano in open fifths. He realizes he has found the place where Stephen and his friend have gone as Bloom stands irresolutely in front of the brothel. Zoe Higgins, a young whore in a sapphire slip, closed with three bronze buckles, a slim black velvet fillet round her throat, accosts him. She says: You're not his father, are you? Bloom Not I.
