The Story of the Fox Sisters in Rochester, NY
The Fox sisters rented out Corinthian Hall, the biggest auditorium in Rochester. Because Leah announced, the spirits had demanded that they publicize spiritualism to a wider audience. The crowd on the first night was very skeptical and jeered and hissed. After each show, an angry crowd demanded the girls be examined again. Maggie and Leah apparently cried with shame, but they emerged disgraced.
