Is It All About the Ends or the Means?

I think we all have this I think there's some things we do just for the goal we're not in it for the process we just want the end result right are those the most dangerous. if you didn't have to learn the hard way like so one of the things I've heard is I guess it's a means versus ends is that really great people whether musicians or athletes or they love the practice  that's part of the enjoyment to them.
