John wilkes was shot in the leg by an assassin on April 4, 1861. He and his friend davy harold set out to find their way back home. They were helped along the way by a well connected chain of confederate sympathizers. But they also came across three paroled soldiers who offered them help. The pair are finally able to return home after spending several days at sea.
