The Four and a Half Kinds of Developer Platforms
I look at things in terms of money spent the way that industries move together or separately so what I have is four and a half kinds of platforms would be application platforms infrastructure platforms developer platforms. The fourth one would be data platforms oh interesting so people working on data engineering and I feel like web developers historically underestimate the amount of data engineering that is going on. It's an open question where the workflow engines count as a platformer platforms because they are used in both infrastructure and applications. Maybe we should have separate engines for those of them because it's very tricky to commingle these resources together.
