The Problem With Reforming the Law

Bentham thought that different people would get different amounts of pleasure from different experiences. What might be a pleasurable experience to one person, might be a painful experience to another. On the one hand we want to maximise our own pleasure and avoid pains for ourselves. But that's not the right thing to do. The right thing is to perform an action which when you take into account everyone affected will maximise pleasure and minimise pain.
