David Gergen's new book, David and Goliath, is based on his conversations with Jewish lawyers in New York. He found that their marginalization was the reason for their success. They didn't succeed despite their discrimination; they succeeded because of their discrimination. In certain contexts being an outsider and being marginalized is hugely advantageous.
