The Eyes of a Portrait
Scientist William High Wallerston asked Thomas Lawrence to illustrate a paper in 1824. He was interested in the apparent direction of eyes in a portrait and wanted some illustrations for it. The result is an amazing series of flip drawings that show how humans perceive portraits rather than anything they are doing.
