The High-Mindedness Problem in Democratic Party Politics
There's essentially a view in the highest levels of democratic party politics broadly that if you present people policy ideas, they will do their research and rise to the occasion. The fact that that is said all the time just really suggests a totally idealistic view of what's going on here. If there wasn't, no democratic party politician would ever say they were blockgrant in a nationally televised debate again.
