The History of the Phoenicians
The Phoenicians were not a nation or any other type of unified political entity. They took advantage of their strategic position at the crossroads of the ancient world to become major traders and commercial middlemen in the ancient Near East. The most well-known and important Phoenician colony was Carthage on the North African coast and what is today, Tunisia. We'll talk more about Carthage when we get through the Romans very shortly.
