What Is the Net Profit on Our One Million Dollar Homesale?

A hypothetical family buys a home for $500,000. After 13 years of paying the mortgage and other costs, they sell it for one million dollars. The house has appreciated six percent per year over that time period. They still have to pay off their mortgage but now owe less money than when they started with. This is why i am personally so hesitant to buy property because i know that if i can rent that same type of home for even 23 85 a month,  i will have spent 400 and forty six thousand 981 dollars in rent over 13 years.
