The Importance of Humor in Language Learning
Aristotle says humor is part and parcel of our ability to engage in what is going on around us, whether we're making a joke or understanding something to be funny because of a certain particular situation. And I think this idea of humor always entails a kind of distance from one's immediate experience but also their thoughts upon that experience. So there has to be some sort of goodness to it too. We can put a little bit of a distance between our immediate experience and then our kind of commentary upon those experiences.
