Introduction
Michael Gibson is co-founder of the 1517 Fund, former Vice President of the Teal Foundation and author of a new book, Paper Belt on Fire. The term paper belt was coined by Bollie Balaji Srinivas in 2012 to refer to an area of industry that has been hollowed out from Washington DC to Boston. He says he wanted to make a statement about these institutions which have their purposes but don't live up to them.
