How to Make a Chemical Reaction With Molecules

In biology, it's almost like there's all these enzymes and microtubules which are kind of more machine-like ways moving molecules around so that they can undergo reactions. There was an enthusiasm in the 1980s, I guess, particularly for early kind of nanotechnology and molecular manufacturing. The idea of sort of making mechanical stuff out of making a traditional mechanical stuff like gears and so on out of molecules is something one can imagine doing. But whether that's the best way to make use of molecules to achieve things we want to achieve, that's a different question.
