The Difference Between Ale and Beer
Beer is brought to England in the late 14th century by Dutch and German immigrants. They bring their taste for beer, but they also bring their own beer brewers. And so there's a lot of anti-alien sentiment in England in theLate 14th and 15th century. Some of it is expressed through casting beer as a foreign drink that good English people won't drink.
