Jiang Kaishik's War on Japan
In 1937, you couldn't say Jiang Kaishik was fully in charge in the north of China. The leftover warlords who came over to his side after the northern expedition were still the main military powers in the north. When he was given a snotty belligerent ultimatum from the Japanese commander on July 22nd, demanding the Chinese troops withdraw, Jiang told him to stuff it and he ordered an attack instead.
