The Risk of Political Change in Chile

The deeper the undervaluation, the more risk that you're willing to take on. I'd say that political risk has materially decreased in Chile. There's always tax risk, but interestingly enough, both in Chile and Bravo, to change mining taxes, it has to go through government. You can't just arbitrarily change,. It has to be voted on at Congress. In Australia, that's not the case. The Queensland government decided to whack on a maximum 40% royalty to all coal producers., which is somewhere ironic given that Australia's still produces 55% of its electricity from coal. And so you cannot do that in Chile and Brazil, for example.
