The Importance of Coal for the Industrialized World
It's easy to forget the importance of coal for our industrialized world. The effects of a transition away from coal can cut very deeply, especially in small, remote mining communities. Coal has relatively more substitutes for it than other high emitting carbon products such as cement. Yet coal is still not a thing of the past and its being expanded upon by companies and governments that have pledged to lower its use.
