Corinth's Rich Oligarchs Lose Their Will
At wealthy Corinth, as this expensive war starts to drag on, Corinth's wealthy oligarchic leaders start losing their resolve. They start talking about coming to terms with Sparta to go back to the old way when they were allied with these like-minded men. The populist Democrats, however, haven't been in power since ever and know that if Corinth mends her relationship with Sparta, democracy is completely off the agenda from here on out in Corinth. So the Democrats decide to take matters into their own hands. And they wait until a solemn, great festival, a holy day in honor of the goddess Artemis, when all the citizens are at ease, enjoying the city's lavish public spaces
