Frieda's Portraits of Alicia Gallant

Frieda's early portraits are so serene. They're based on someone like Botticelli and herself portrait of Velvet Dress. It's really interesting to see how she depicted these people and herself, especially in her inner circle. That's what she was kind of painting at the beginning. I'm really interested in the Velvet Dress Portrait because that was a gift that she gave to Alejandro, who she'd been in the accident with. She looks very kind of girlish, but she's also surrounded by darkness. And there's a hand there at the bottom like, please take my hand. Please remember me.
