The Importance of Explanationless Science
David Deutsches: Some people simply are born good at mathematics. He says that's not the case and there might be differences in how fast a person can think and how much they can remember but it's hard to imagine that would explain everything. If certain scientists allow themselves to stop demanding good explanations, he writes, they're liable to make fools of themselves. But if progress cannot continue indefinitely bad philosophy will inevitably come again into the ascendancy for it will be true according to Tuytchen.
