The History of the Watson Break Mounds
Mounds along the Mississippi River date back more than 7,500 years. Watson Break includes 11 mounds connected by a lower wall of earth. Archaeologists suggest they were base camps for villagers who went hunting and fishing. For centuries, it appears that no one built another mound.
