Lux: It has been suggested that the majority of these bowls were not made by home owners who probably weren't practicing magicians. So they would have gone to the local magician and said, hey, I need protection for my home. Lux: You could probably argue that the vast majority of normal people would just look at them as objects that frightened off way with spirits. But then you would probably have magicians who would have looked upon it as an actual vessel,. whereby they could summon or evoke the spirit into the statue. The concept kind of reminds me of gargoyles actually.
