The Origins of Practical Jokes
April Fool's Day must have started somewhere at some time, but nobody knows when exactly or where. There were April full-state jokes in various parts of Europe before the calendar switch. The most common theory that you'll hear is that New Year's Day was moved from the end of March to the beginning of January. And then the theories got one from there about that it had to do with the calendar changes.
