Mimetic Desire

Mimetic desire comes from Renee Girard the anthropologist philosopher who talked about how we learn what to desire through looking at the desire of the other. So I start to desire what you desire. You go out with somebody you started taking interest in what they like and then you feel that it's your desire. This creates well for Girard this is one of the roots of violence because mimetic desire is constantly happening. But this mirroring creates all sorts of problems because people start to desire the same things and then they start to fight over those things.
