The book is a polemic against libnis who use as a kind of an adabsurd argument. It was important to find a way to think of objects that was not infected by libnus naturalism, which comes from aristotle. The science connection is simply, my dad's kind of a computer guy, and he had some object oriented computer text sitting round the house. And i decided object oriented philosophy was a metaphor i want to use.
