Is There a Word That Means Nothing?
The word irregardless is a negation of its very self, he says. The Oxford English Dictionary people have thrown their hands in the air and they've said, "Oh, to hell with it, just go ahead." I find that to be incredibly offensive; these things don't mean anything,. But how far and how fast are we willing to let language evolve? We're inclined not to say this is a word yet until it's so used and so adopted that there's literally no choice.
