We shouldn't be afraid to put texts in front of kids, maybe that they can't even read yet. But give them scaffolds and supports to help them. I was thinking the other day about how the focus has been maybe too much on the word recognition side of things. And i say that reluctantly, because westill haven't gotten that right. It is an attainable goal. So it's not that we need to stop talking about phonic in fact, we need to continue talking about it and get it right.
