The History of UFO Hearings
The House Select Committee on Astronautics and Space Exploration was chaired by John McCormick in 1958. They were going to hold hearings on the subject of UFOs with just two or three days of lead time. The committee informed the Secretary of the Air Force that a whole week of civilian hearings was in the wings. Yet before the last echoes had died, that whole idea was obliterated by higher forces. And the congressional investigation was neutralized.
