"I don't start writing the book at all until I have a full chapter by chapter breakdown of what's going to happen," she says. "That doesn't mean that there isn't room for change, like if I'm starting to write and then a subplot just sort of comes to me, then I'll add that in." The series is divided into parts with 11 numbered chapters each - except for part five, where it's an epilogue. In terms of chapter numbers, not in terms of word count, they are 44 seconds long.
