Are You in the Losses?

The minute that you set a goal, you also start. And as soon as you step your toe over the starting line, you are now at least cognitively what we would call in the losses. So when you're 16 miles into a race, we can see that sort of in reality from an objective standpoint, you have gained 16 miles. But cognitively, that's not how we do it. We will keep running with a broken leg. We'll stay in a relationship that is toxic. Because we don't want to close that account as a failure.
