The Ends Justify the Means

We get caught up the expression that the means justify the ends or the ends justify the means. What if the goal was to obtain knowledge versus the goal is to get a degree? Because you can get a degree and maybe not really have learned anything in the process. If we're always looking for that next station, we're no different than the hamster that's stuck in a hamster wheel and it's running.
