I've got like thousands of dashboards that are sitting there and it drives me absolutely bonkers oh sorry but the dashboard enabling technology. I don't think we're not doing as analytics teams very much of which is having those conversations with customers. Most data teams become order takers and they're just pulling down orders and trying to answer themlike short order cooks all the time. That's no way to live we all know that but it's hard to kind of shift yeah make the shift.

Have you ever built a data-related "thing" — a dashboard, a data catalog, an experimentation platform, even — only to find that, rather than having the masses race to adopt it and use it on a daily basis, it gets an initial surge in usage… and then quietly dies? That's sorta' the topic of this episode. Except that's a pretty clunky and overly narrow summary. Partly, because it's a hard topic to summarize.
