Is There Affective Polarization?

Could you have a country, or like, a period of time in which people in the two parties have very different views from each other, but don't feel so negatively towards each other? Thas it's such a good and important question, and i'll be honest that i'm not sure. I know, i suspect that a lot of affect of polarization is being driven by other parts of the political market place than simply opinion dispersion. There are businesses here, there are market incentives here. There'sa lot of other stuff, other stuff going on. Can you have a highly idiologically polarized system without an endless ratchting up in partisan stakes? I think we've seen this
