The Importance of Russian Heritage in Reporting on Russia
Evan Biola County was born in the Soviet Union and grew up in a Russian speaking household. His parents immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1970s. He is now working for the Wall Street Journal as an independent journalist. Mark Whitaker met him when he first arrived in Russia, but says his experience has made reporting more difficult than it would have been if he'd stayed there forever.
