I think that people who love certain cultural properties are more liable now, then 10 or 20 or 30 years ago to feel a kind of personal emotional betrayal from creators. In terms of creating work in a certain way that is satisfying on narrative grounds but also on representational grounds. I don't think this is exclusive to social justice as a as a movement either. But I think that sense of betrayal that like we have this contract and isn't necessarily bad entitlement or good entitlement but as a sense of entitlement has become normative in how fans think about it.
