Most of us live our lives online, despite knowing how it can distort democracy. Parliament has spent years debating a new set of laws to police the internet. The damage caused by harmful content online is worse than ever. To understand how it's gone so wrong, we have to go back to a time when it worked. Marie Lacont was born in 1991, the same year as the World Wide Web.
