The Dinghy and the Danube
My dad was always thinking about how he could leave and what life could be like outside of romania. He took a welding course because he heard you could be a welder in italy. The idea was to go to the first train station, look for bergrat train, hide somewhere there. They were only a couple kilometers from the danube but they had to crawl on all fours. It took them about four hours to get there. Now you can hear from the distance the roar of the danub.
