The Countenance of Incest
The reason why Paul was against it is not in principle that it's wrong for you to marry someone who was related to you as a stepmother before your conversion. That would be okay. But if you do that, you're going to give the Gentiles the wrong idea about Christianity and this pervert called the countenance of incest. In other words, they've got a right idea, but they're running it out to a bad extreme. And they're doing things that are going to bring the church into disrepute."
