The figurehead of dissidents and Republican feeling in Morocco was Ben Barker. He had been forced into exile by Hassan's father, Mohammed Tsank. But he came back to negotiate an agreeable constitution for all parties concerned. In the mid-60s, he was about to attend a major conference in Havana when he was murdered.
