Positive Psychology and the Long Slow Rot Theory of Aging
The old idea, the traditional idea of aging is the long slow rot theory. It's the idea that all of our mental skills and our physical skills decline over time. We now know their users are losing skills. And if you never stop training these skills, you get to hang on to them and even advance them far later in life than any thought possible. But we're really still stuck with it across the boards, you know, and a lot of things. Those are psychological interventions. Most people think about how do I take it off my diet or what supplements do for me. The biggest levers that we currently have at our disposal are predominantly psychological but they can make an enormous difference.
