CHAPTER

The Impact of the Walden Policy on the Kids

Walden allows parents to email their children letters instead of sending it by physical mail. But they've instituted a three-day delay on either side because they want to mimic how long it took for the mail to arrive. And so you have a six-day span when a kid writes a letter, it gets home and the parent can write a letter and send it back. That is sort of the crucial thing that allows kids to sort of grow a camp, as well as form the bonds with others that are really at the core of the camp experience.
