If you're a big giver, there's a special provision from the stimulus package. You can make a direct transfer from your i r a owners or beneficiaries who are 70 and a half years old or older. Most people don't get any tax benefit for their charitable gifts because most of them take the standard deduction. So if you're thinking about making this big gift, this may be the year to do it.
