The Rohingya have been there for hundreds of years, but they're still seen as outsiders by the Burmese government and the Rakhine people. Burma is made up of many different ethnic groups, tribes, many of whom have fought or currently fighting an insurrection against the government. The borderlands there are just all sorts of crazy. You have all these ethnic militias, drug trafficking, drug manufacturing,. child prostitution, exotic animal poaching and all sorts of just insanity there.
