How to Come Up With New Ideas for Research Projects
I like to keep a research notebook whenever I read so that I can write down any ideas that come to mind because it's very hard to know which ideas will work in the end. So what I want to do to filter out the ones that are not very good from the ones that may have some potential is to try to come up with sharp tests. And this process has worked pretty well for me. It probably throws out 70%, 80% of the ideas already, and then the remaining ones I try to spend more time on and dig a little deeper.
