Gospel of Matthew is divided into five literary blocks, and each block ends with an in-depth teaching from Jesus. Each teaching ends with this catchphrase: "When Jesus had finished saying these things, end quote" Every time you read that five times, it's a little literary clue. One of the reasons Matthew does this is because numerology was popular at the time. All over the ancient world, from Israel, all the way to India, I think of Hinduism, it was very popular.
