The Industrial Revolution and Sports

Sports existed before the Industrial Revolution, but travel was difficult. Sports were very much a local activity based on traditions of the town or school. The game played in one area could have been completely different rules to the next town over. Sport flourished and became more popular and professional due to working class involvement later on - that is for sure.
