The Difficult Technology of Iron
Tutankhamun has an iron dagger and a couple of iron bracelets in the 14th century. They probably came from the Hittites in Anatolia, they were made there. So this was a difficult technology, I said at the beginning of the programme that this was a big revolution, technological revolution. And once you've done it, of course, you've got a material that is infinitely better in many ways than bronze. Might well have disrupted the tin supply coming from Afghanistan. Tin is rare. If you diminish the quantity of tin, you're more ready to take up new technologies which might just be a bit more difficult.
