Are We Really Afraid of a G I?
In some sense, the core problem is that we don't understand what we're doing when we build these systems to anywhere near the same level as we do with other technologies. There's some sort of argument which says, a, look, probably a g i won't take over the world. But if you really expect a g i to be such a powerful technology, then you might just not have that long to experiment.
